Strange no start

Working on a 2000 sea doo jet boat. think its a 787cc. With no spark plugs in, it turns over fine.... put them back in and its very slow and the wires heat up big time. Battery is fine, checked grounds, ok..... not sure. I'm thinking the stator is not putting out enough voltage under load. Any ideas?

sounds like the jet pump is dragging, better pull it and see if you have rusted bearings in the pump

But with the plugs out is spins fine..... Put them in and then its slow..... I'll check the impeller out though.
