Strange Issue with Port Motor

Strange issue with port motor the other day. Was at the pump-out station and when I went to start the motor I placed in neutral and turned the key but nothing happened. No clicking from the starter, just complete silence. Headed back to the slip on the starboard motor and on the way back kept trying but still nothing. Finally as I was approaching the slip I tried one last time and the motor started.

Anyone have this happen or have any thoughts on what might have caused this?

What are we working on? other than a "Port Motor"

Did you try moving the shift lever around a little, maybe the neutral safety switch was sticking, or you didn't have it full in gear.
