Strange hole on the Lower Unit

Hi all.

I just noticed this small hole on the left side of the upper oil screw. I never paid attention to it so I am wondering what it might be? Did I lose a plug?

I am not sure which engine you have. Many of the drives have a small weep hole to expel traped water protecting the cavity from freezing.

It is a 1974 mercury thunderbolt 50hp.. It could be normal I just never noticed it before

yes that is a weephole it was always there and should not be pluged.
