Storing your outboard in the upright position?

I have a 2003 honda bf225, the owner's manual states to store the engine fully lowered(trimmed all the down). This is great as long as it sits on the trailer, but what about when I have it in the slip at the marina? The motor would be sitting in the water, that has to be worse than sitting tilted. Is this really an important matter? I run the boat at least once a week. Thanks again.<br />-Mike

you will be absolutly fine. i think the owners manual says that for "storing " and i believe they mean long periods of time, if u use it regularly, you have nothing to fear, just keep it clean and oiled and it will love you for many a year
