I have tried unsuccessfully to stop the updates to threads I am subscribed to from cluttering up our email .
How can I make that happen ?

Re: Stopping post going to email .

Have you by chance tried going into you General Settings under My Account and opened the drop down menu next to Default Thread Subscription Mode and clicked on Do Not Subscribe?

Under the drop down menu it will say: When you post a new thread, or reply to a topic, you can choose to automatically add that thread to your list of subscribed threads, with the option to receive email notification of new replies to that thread.

I believe that may help stop the emails.

Here's how you do it:

1) click on "settings" at top of page
2) all the way on your left find "my settings" box
3) underneath the section that says "my account" click on "general settings"
4) go down middle of page until you find "Default Thread Subscription Mode:"
5) use the drop down menu to decide how you want to get your messages delivered if at all.

Let me know if you have any problems with it.

For sure that will work with all new threads.

I'm not sure but I don't think it affects existing subscriptions. I think they need to me manually edited or unsubscribed one at a time.

Edit: Looks like I was wrong. This version does allow notification via check box and update choices.

If you have it set at through my control panel all the email will be kept here on site and you can collect them from the "notifications" tab on top of the page. if you select do not subscribe then you will not be notified at all when someone new adds to the post.

Re: Stopping post going to email .

I believe the messages you're getting are from threads you subscribed to before you selected "do not subscribe" The way you unsubscribe from those is when it comes through your email go to the very bottom of the page to the last link where it says "To unsubscribe from ALL threads, please visit this page:" and click on that. You should be all set then. If that doesn't work you can unsubscribe from each thread individually by clicking on the second to last thread from the bottom. If you followed all the steps in post 5 and the above 2 steps there is nothing else you can do but PM a MOD :mod: and ask them to set it for you as something isn't working right. Let me know how you make out.

Re: Stopping post going to email .

Try this:

1. Click on settings
2. Click on view all subscribed threads
3. Click the notification box, this checks every thing on that page
4. At the bottom of the page click on Selected threads
5. Select the correct choice from the list, I like control panel only.
6. Repeat process for each additional page of subscriptions.

Most likely anything more than 90 days old is not getting replies (except the popular continuing threads

Re: Stopping post going to email .

Hi sphelps, While looking into this for you, I noticed a setting that was not listed in the "view all subscribed threads" drop down menu. Turns out you or I could not change it so I asked one of the administrators to look a little deeper into this and he was able to change one of the settings for you that reads "Subscribe With No Notification". So hopefully you won't be bothered now.:)
