Re: Stop the smoke

1 Decarb the engine.
2 Clean the excess fuel scavenge system, make sure it is not clogged.
3 Switch to a full synthetic oil and don't add any "extra".

Re: Stop the smoke

i use Pennzoil Synthetic blend - 3.99 a quart at most places - only smokes on first start.

Roscoe, what is the "excess fuel scavenge system" and where is it at ?

Re: Stop the smoke

It's also called the fuel recirculating system. Smaller hoses close to the block. A " search" will bring up many references. Decarb is also referenced many times through a search. The aerosal and liquid (seafoam/deep creep) have directions on the container. I'm convinced the smoke will drive you to search and follow directions. It did me with positive results.
