I am currently looking to buy a stabalizer for a 35 merc. At bass Pro Shop I found a Stingray one piece design and another 2 piece design. What is better? Also the one piece is $10 more. Also any thoughts on a fish finder? Thinking about getting a fish easy 2 Eagle to replace the old humminbird I have now. Its $125 not looking to spend any more than that.

Bunner......I would try to stay away from a hydrofoil stabilizer. It WILL slow your boat down a good bit with the low HP you have. Try rearranging the load and tilt pin location first. On smaller motors especialy, they tend to break the cavitation plate...I weld these things all the time......Also try to make sure the cavitation plate is at least level with the bottom of the boat. If none of this works then as a last resort get the stabilizer The fish Eagle 2 is good little unit for the money, similar to the old Magna III unit but improved electronics and software. Try to buy one of th new Grey colored units not the old black. The black is old stock....

The one-piece Stingray raises a lot of spray all over the back of your motor. I've used both the Atlantic and Doelfin with great results. Doelfin is a solid design, while Atlantic is hollow with ribs on the bottom. For some reason, the tips of the Atlantic seem to distort less over time.
