stinger water pump

i have a 120 omc with a stinger out drive and am back with more question after getting my boat started thanks to this webb site. now it has a new problem it was pissing water out the back like it should while it water tryed froward and rev. nice and smooth than it stopped pissing water started to over heat so am thinking water pump.i need to know how hard this is? am pretty good with tools and car motors but have never done tihs as this is my frost boat. can i get at this from top or or drop the bottom end any help i would be thankful after reading the blogs got to say am on the potty about this problem !!!!

Very least you should have a manual for your unit, you will have to remove the outdrive,then split it.

I suggest you read it at least 3 times to understand how to do this and understand the manual itself.

The impeller/pump isn't that hard to get at. You can pull the drive off the boat to make it a little easier if you want, but it can be done with the drive still on the boat. The electric shift stringers are easiest to remove. Just disconnect the shift wires inside the transom, pull off the pivot caps and it's off. Separate the upper and lower gearcases and the pump is in the upper. If you leave the drive on the boat, you will be looking up at the underside of the upper and there's the pump. 4 bolts and it's out.

thanks for the help and the insite on the manual am going to try doing it this week with god and luck :facepalm:
