Still won't pump

This is for a 5 hp Gamefisher motor. I changed the pump element and put it in at a 45 degree angle. I prime it and it fires right up, but it won't pump the gas continually so in order to keep the motor going about every two min I have to give the primer bulb a little sqeeze so the motor will not die. I have checked the hoses and made sure they are air tight. So what else can I do so I can focus on fishing more than keeping the motor running.
