Still Can't Find Serial #

I have an old Mercury 650 Thunderbolt outboard.I can't find the serial number anywhere. Could it be hidden by the electric trim? I did find one number but I don't think it is the right one. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. Jeff D

Jeffde45<br /><br />The serial # is usally stamped on a plate on the pivot assembly on the transom mount, it should also be stamped on the power head. Also is this a 3 or 4 cylinder 650. 4 cylinders 1963 to 1971/ <br />3 cylinders 1972 to 1976.

It is the 4-cylinder. Do you know how many digits the serial number is??? Thanks for responding. Jeff D
