It has been crazy winter so far, here in the North East. I have been out fishing in the boat in December and now, January. Yesterday was warmer than many early November's past. Who else in iBoat land has been taking advantage of the record setting warm spell?

Re: Still boat fishing in January!

Took the twelve footer out on its maiden voyage yesterday. Drizzly weather with the sudden storms popping up sent other boaters away. We were able to boat in the main channel of the busiest section and it was like glass. Water was warm enough to wade in. But, we never stop fishing in the winter. Just stop the wading. Our boats never get winterized.

I been fishing the Grand River for steelhead and even bass for the last couple weeks. the river is so busy you can hardly find a spot to fish. We are just starting to get a little snow but it's supposed to get real cold next week, so im trying to enjoy my last week of fishing before it gets nasty. Us yankees aren't used to this kinda weather

As far as the boat is concerned, I've been temped to put it in the water but we've been too busy. We getting out of NJ and moving to Upstate NY. Things should start settling down in March.

Re: Still boat fishing in January!

Ron, sorry about your motor, but that is a nice smallie. I haven't gotten any smallies since mid-December. They were nice and fat, but a couple of inch shorter. Been getting walleyes, muskies, and even a handful of cats, lately. On Sunday, with the river high and in milkshake condition, caught 4 walleyes over 20". Largest was 26".

It does look like it is finally starting to turn colder. I washed the boat out on the return trip home. This will be the 3rd time I've set it up for this winter. :^ I am glad it doesn't take much to prep an outboard.

I could have but my dumb arse winterized the boat base on years past experience. I got it done the week before Thanksgiving:'( I've been pondering about taking her out of the garage everyday.
