I took the boat out for a little while last tuseday and it ran ok other that a few things that i need to fix yet, i parked ti and have not run it since. i noticed a puddle under the prop were i saw it the first time, is this a bad thing? i know it is unburned fuel and oil!! but why is it there? i know i need new plugs could this be part of the problem? i am also unsure if the oil pump is working so i am running 50:1 and the vro until i see if the oil goes down in my tank.

yes its unburnt fuel/oil especially while running 50:1 + vro a carb 2-stroke washes approx 35% of fuel charge out thur exhaust so this is a normal thing

In my experience with 2 stroke motors black messy oil from various parts of the leg are normal. It generally comes from where the exhaust goes - the exhaust ports and the prop area. Again, in my experience, and not necessarily always true, the black oily mess is 2 stroke oil (black from carbon from the compustion chamber). If it's lower unit/gear oil, it isn't black, but more of a brown color and almost always has a distinctive smell typical of gear oil. Bottom line, double check to see what the level and condition of the gear oil is if you're worried. If it's ok, I'd almost be certain it's 2 stroke oil, and pretty much a normal condition you just have to clean up after. That's why 2 strokes are such messy polluters. They just droool oil when running and afterwards.
