2000 Merc 5.0 bravo 2. Mercury 3000 classic throttle. My throttle is getting really stiff when engaged in drive - seems looser when button pressed in and outdrive not engaged.
Throttle is on vertical plane attached to side of cockpit ( Sea Ray 240 Sundancer) I am figuring the cables are needing lubrication. Likely hasnt been done since new. No sign of how to get at the cable assembly. I can get at the back of it by removing the cupholder panel but still no sign of entry to the cable connections.

The cables don't get lubed, when they get stiff, they get replaced.

so for what is worth the throttle moves easily in throttle only mode.,..suggesting its the throttle assembly needing lubrication..I'll replace the cable(s) while I'm in there but still need help getting the button and handle off...all insight greatly appreciated!

It's in the manual I lined you to, did you even look at it?

You're having a laugh Don...why wouldnt I read the manual - I spent over an hour trying to use the "simple" instructions on page4G 28 and 29 to get the blasted button off. My question was a simple one looking for some trick of tip to doing it that I had perhaps not considered in my hour of fiddling with it. In essence thats the point of this forum - right - to pass on tips and hints. Thanks for the manual - I have it downloaded and so dont need any more of your time or "helpful" comments

No problem, I will let all the others that have been helping you in this thread finish.

I've learned by experience that giving people links to things doesn't mean the actually look at it. Thus the reason for my question.
