Stiff throttle control

I recently had the shift cable replaced on my 97' Glastron 175SE. The shift cable seems to be capable of shifting into Forward just fine. However, when I go to open the throttle while in Forward I get a lot of resistance, and the control handle wants to spring back to idle position. Once I reach about 1/4 open throttle, the handle will remain in place - keeping a consistent throttle position, and the resistance is gone. Does this sound like a throttle cable issue? Any ideas?

Re: Stiff throttle control

Does to me.

Do the next steps with the engine off.

Disconnect it from the carburetor and try it again to make sure its not a carb issue.

Try it also with the control in neutral so you aren't shifting the drive

Re: Stiff throttle control

Similar stiff-throttle problem with my 2007 5.0 GXi-G w/DPS-A except throttle does not try to spring back to idle and resistance is throughout the range of movement. When in neutral it works easy and smooth as silk. Does this suggest a shift cable issue?
