The throttle on my 1989 Maxum is sticky from forward to neutral and neutral to reverse. The following was suggested:

"Have you adjusted your throttle friction screw on the remote control? It may be too tight... "

Where is this screw and how do I adjust it?

Thanks,
Stephan

Re: Sticking Throttle

Need more information. What brand of power package? OMC Mercruiser ???
If it is an I/O it could be your short shift cable and not your throttle at all.

A friction adjustment will be the same thru all throttle positions.
Need more info. Maxum tells us the hull builder not the engine/drive option.

The short shift cable??? I am very mechanical as far as cars go, but I am new to boats. What does this mean, can I fix it?

Ayuh,... Go to the I/O Mercruiser forum, 'n search changing the Lower shift cable...
There's an article in the Adults Only section pinned to the top of that forum...
