First, thanks to JB and steve for the comments. I did put the cork gasket on steve, but will try your other suggestion re. the carb. and pump.<br /><br />JB, I pumped the bulb till firm, checked all lines, and gas pumped thru the filter/pump into the line going to the carb. I did not, as yet, test the fuel pump, but will do that next.<br /><br />When I start engine, much smoke, and get soot on the plugs (black), I clean them periodically.<br /><br />One other note. This engine sat for a long time, and has not been started for over 13 years. All compression is good, and cylinders move fine. Wiring harness was shot, thus the re-wire I did. Points look good, but did not replace them yet. I did do throttle alignment when rebuilt carb.<br /><br />Fuel pump was my next step, but figured I would check out you more experienced guys before driving myself crazy!<br /><br />Thanks again for the input.
