Hello everyone yes I am a newbie I recently got a 1973 Trisonic 1900 Rivera and I am restoring it. I am looking for information on the sterndrive I will be removing it to replace the transom and would like to replace any bad seals or gaskets and I am not sure on where to start on finding exactly which ones. I have the numbers off of the drive itself but they don't jive with the kit numbers on here. Please help me figure out which kit I should get. I would like to make sure this thing is ready for the water when the time comes.

The numbers on the sterndrive are 258162 on the outboard piece, inboard number is 37021

From his resto post 165 merc.... Kam the best way to get all the info you need is to give as much info as you can re: year make model and serial numbers of engine and drive components. The guys are very helpfull with the correct info given to them :D

i looked at his last posts too. same as what i got. a 165hp mercruiser, 1 drive. best i can tell..
I am looking for information on the sterndrive
1st best place is the mercruiser service manual. you need #1. it has everything ya need to know about your sterndrive in it. short of replacement part numbers.
for that. i like to go here. http://www.go-fast.com/ start clicking the links there. about 5 or 6 links and you'll be where ya can see parts breakdowns ( http://www.mercruiserparts.com/selectDocs.asp?doc_nbr=56999 ) w/part numbers and availability.
and would like to replace any bad seals or gaskets and I am not sure on where to start on finding exactly which ones.
you'll need normal gasket replacements for anything you take apart. + you'll wanna do the water hose, bellows, gimble brg + ujoints + likely more while yer drive is off the boat. for the drive it self. i'd pressure test it. if it passes, use it. if it don't you'll have to find out why. then you'll be able to figure what needs replacing.

cool trisonic. fwiw. i got a 1700 caprice (trisonic, 165hp mercrusier w/1drive) in my back yard. looks very much like yours but w/ brown interior. same engine/drive package. hope all goes well for ya. i've not touched mine for lack of funds and it's in pieces in the back yard... :(
