I have searched and came up with nothing. I have a new sterndrive to replace the broken piece of crap that is on it now. problem is 1 of the 6 bolts is missing on the housing on the boat. i have the donor boat still here and wanted to remove one of the bolts off the donor boat to replace the one that is missing. any idea on how to get it out of the sterndrive? here is the old sterndrive still attached, in the pic you can see the missing piece.

While im at it, any idea on how to tell a sterndrive is in working order as i have my donor one on a homemade stand.

Re: sterndrive bolt replacement

While i have never tried to take one out,
Double nut the stud and then turn it with a wrech on the but closest to the bell housing. If they are lock tighted in you may need to heat the alum a bit with a torch to free them up then it should screw right out.
If they are threaded in and right handed tread.

Someone else may have a better idea.
