1986 omc cobra outdrive I changed the oil I put 64 ounces in it. It’s riding a little high on the dipstick, but I haven’t ran it yet. Should I run it for a few minutes then check it again the Oil level. Thanks to anyone that answers.

Which way did you fill it from?
The one above the cavitation plate the second hole from the bottom I drained it from the bottom, I put the plug back in unscrewed the second plug screwed in the fitting and pumped it in very very slowly and of course I let the oil drain all the way out of the bottom and it’s just a little bit overfill. I think I might have some out but I have not ran it yet

There might be a bit of air still in the oil and if you run it briefly & recheck it may drop slightly.

Yes, I was going to do that or just take a little bit of oil out and then recheck it. I know I filled it up properly. I took my time took me about 25 minutes to fill it up I would do one pump at a time very slowly
