Re: STERN DRIVE FINS

They work pretty well on small runabouts under 24 feet. Up on plane in almost half the time. You lose a few MPH. I personally like them for the money.

Re: STERN DRIVE FINS

There are several zillion threads on this subject. Keep in mind these fins are a tool. They allow the motor to be raised on the transom to reduce gearcase drag. Reduced drag equals better overall performance gains including top end and fuel economy.

On sterndrives its not so easy to raise the outdrive. Sometimes, especially with larger fins, if they are run below the water line they can, and will, cause all kinds of problems. I would not recommend using one of the larger ones on a sterndrive unless its mounted high to start with. One of the smaller ones like those mentioned would be the ones to try.

Test carefully and slowly. Good luck!
