I have a 2005 sea pro 180cc and I am about to die to have a stereo in it, i played half of last summer w/o one and cant do it anymore. I'm looking to put a cd player and probably 4 6 1/2" speakers in. My first question is where should i mount my cd player? I really dont want to mount it in the console without any protection due to the moisture that really builds up unde rthe console due to the holes where other wiring is run thru the hull. This being said do I get one of those polyplanar enclosers and mount in on the inside some how (how can I do this? any help is great) or do I mount the box on the top of the console by my depthfinder? this i really would like to prevent doing but it seems to be quite dry here. Also under the back seat where the battery is it seems to stay quite dry, it could be mounted here but I would have to runa wired remote to the console and also seems like it might be a lot of wires to run under the hull. My other major problem is wondering where to put the speakers so that they can be heard all around the boat at cruising speeds (esp behind the console) and places to keep them the driest. Is there a way to mount them in any of the covers that come opening without much modification and also if I were to mount any on the sides or up front how do I get the wires run from the front to the back bc i dont see any places that alread have wires run. I know this should be asked to an electronics professional but i'm looking to install myself and could use all the knowledge that all of you have thanks

There are some good quality marine stereo systems that are sealed against moisture, and water. That includes the cd.They are pricey however. You can find a good deal on e-bay if you don't mind recoditioned ones. I instaled a clarion xmd1, works great, and looks great, got it for under 100$. You should be able to put a marine stereo where ever it is convinient.

Jim

Sjohnson 4382, Yes I purchased a SEA PRO 180CC in 2003 and installed a stereo in it shortly after I got it. I purchased a radio from Cablas complete with speakers for 199.00. It is one of the water resistant ones with a CD. I did not want to cut up the console or drill a bunch of holes so I came up with a way to install it that looks great, heres what I Did. I removed the compass from the top of the console keeping the four stainless screws. I bought a white cutting board from Walmart and cut a square out of it large enough to cover the hole in the top of the console left from the compass removal. Using the same four holes and stainless screws I attached the cutting board and drilled all the holes needed into the cutting board not the console. Bass Pro Shops sells an enclosuere for $35 that works great and looks good and fits most all radios. Connect power to the assy switch. For the speakers remove the round white plastic access covers from both interior sides of the boat and install the speakers. They are perfect for 6" speakers and looks good. Save the covers and compass if you ever want to reinstall them.

Good Luck Dan.
