Stereo Head Unit Wiring Question (4 channel, only 2 speakers)

I just bought a 4 channel head unit, but only have 2 boat speakers. Does anyone know if I can combine the front and rears and run them to the speakers? The peak output of the head unit is 4x50W, and the peak handling of the speakers are 180W. From my logic, which is very limited in wiring, I would only be pushing 100W to the speakers maximum, which is considerably less than the speakers are rated at. Please let me know if this is possible, or if I am going to fry something. Thanks in advance for the help.

Re: Stereo Head Unit Wiring Question (4 channel, only 2 speakers)

180 watt speakers might be a tad ineficiant for just deck power, may need an amp to really get out of them what you want. but if you wire the front two channels to them (white, white/black....grey, grey/black) tape of the ends of the rear (violet, violet/black....green, green/black) speaker wires you`ll be fine. 50watts by 4 on deck amp, is a PEAK output measurement, at an UNDISTORTED volume of the deck (3/4th volume approx) it likely wont be pushing much more than 15-20 watts continuously. brand name would help though....cheaper no name brands will claim rediculous specs on their stuff. I am a custom car audio installer by trade, so any question feel free to ask away.

Follow the manufacturer's instructions for the head unit wiring.
