It's the way they report it J.Rewind to the 2004 election, that was one of the major issues. All we heard up here in communist controlled NW Ohio was that Bush was against stem cell research. As your post points out, that is not the case.
I looked...couldn't find any reporting that "stem-cell research is banned"...I guess when you say "media" you mean some specific hick town paper or radio station?

CJY,<br /><br />Not sure what you disagree with? <br /><br />Jtex,<br /><br />It only took one Google. I think I got kinda lucky, but I used: Democratic Convention stem cells ban research.<br /><br /> Stem cell stuff <br /><br />Philadelphia Inquirer said "ban"<br /><br />Some snippets:<br /><br />"Three years ago, the president enacted a far-reaching ban on stem-cell research," Kerry asserted in his radio address.<br /><br />Repeating a pledge made by Hillary Clinton at the Democratic convention, Kerry promised twice that he would "lift the ban on stem-cell research."<br /><br />Reinforcing this misimpression are the headlines and commentators talking up a "ban" on research. "First lady Laura Bush defends ban on stem-cell research" is how the Philadelphia Inquirer spun Mrs. Bush's talk. A sampling of other headlines shows the Inquirer is far from alone: "Rethink the stem-cell ban" (Des Moines Register); "Stem cell ban stays, despite Reagan pleas" (Newark Star-Ledger); "Kerry says he'd reverse stem cell ban" (The Grand Rapids Press); "Kerry 'would lift stem cell ban' "(BBC), and on and on. You get the drift.

Thank you LF<br />Yup thats the one I was talking about.

I think a lot of people equate not being funded by the government the same as being banned by the government. I would suggest that the people squawking the loudest about it being "banned" are liberals that want momma gubmint to take care of them cradle to grave and dont trust the private sector in the slightest. Incidentally Im in favor of stem cell research but paid for by the private sector rather than my tax $$$.

I've made a bunch of different avatars from the pics from the recent cruise with my sweety. Ill probably be changing them every few days. She did a fly by here the other day and really liked what she saw. I hope to see her posting here shortly. Shes a rock ribbed conservative but the funniest and smartest person I know. Shes prolly even more conservative than me but gets her points across with logic, sarcasm and humor compared to me and my sledgehammers, lol.

I would be against harvesting cells from embryos. The main thing that I have a problem with is using my tax dollars to fund it.If there is so much potential in it,why wouldnt the medical industry be willing to fund it themselves?Wouldnt they stand to make a good profit? Or, are they just trying to get something for nothing?

heh heh heh! Yeah we get a lot of comments about the age difference. I have her pic as wallpaper on my computer at the office and one of our sales reps asked if it was my daughter the other day. But the only time we even think about it is when were asked about it. Go ahead and tell John Walsh, I'll bet hed just be jealous of me! :p :D Besides she always says that she prefers us old farts compared to the guys her age anyway. Lucky break for me! ;)
