Steering?

I parked the boat about 5 weeks ago. Went back to use it and could not turn steering at all. It is an 81 Checkmate, has 350 chevy engine, with a 260 Mercruiser stern drive and power steering. Should i check cable----power steering pump ----or hydraulic unit? New boater all advice helpful.

It would be helpful if we knew what we were dealing with. Year, engine and drive make are always helpful.<br />Anyway it's most likely the cable is seized, you can trouble shoot by disconnecting and seeing if the drive moves.
