Steering wheel play

Hey guys,<br /><br />How much play is okay in a steering system. I have a 1999 19ft Trophy CC with teleflex steering and a 125 merc saltwater OB. The wheel shaft rattles a bit side to side and the wheel moves about 1 to 1.5 inches before the motor moves. What do you guys think?<br /><br />Thanks,<br />Dave Richey

That sounds about right. 1 inch is not out of the question on a 4 year old boat.
