I have an 1998 18ft Haynie tunnel hull flats skiff. Regular old floppy steering....flops when trailering.
Powered by a 2003 Tohatsu 90hp TLDI.
Way up high on a jack plate. 4 blade drag cleaver lifter prop with shallow water cup.
When motor is down in the water i can trim out the steering feedback...but when running way way high in shallow water (will run in 2"-3") and half the prop is out of the water i get feedback pull and if i let go it will jack to the right hard and fast....dangerous.
QUESTION IS THIS>......the torque is manageable and doesnt really bother me but i want it safer if my girlfriend or daughter is behind the wheel. I have no issue at the dock....it is only bad when running with a lot of throttle on hole shot and WOT and i CAN trim the torque out of it....
will No feed back be ok?
if i should go hydraulic i have heard issues with baystar leaks etc....seastar is definately overkill just need yalls experience and feedback. just want it safer and more fun.
