Hello folks, I did something stupid when replacing the Morse steering cable, I undid the nuts on the steering tube that goes between the two engine mounts and now can't get the tube to go back into the hole so the steering cable can be reconnected. Is there an easy way to get it back in there, or do I bite the bullet and take the outboard off.
The outboard is a Chrysler 90hp

Re: Steering Pivot Tube

welcome to iboats.

I hate when that happens. ;) You'll need to hang the motor. If you can easily manipulate the height of the motor, that's easiest cuz you're right there to see when things are lining up. Otherwise you can raise or lower the back by lowering or raising the trailer tongue. You might have to loosen the bolts on one of the clamps a bit, but probably not on both. Good luck.
