Here's the issue.
When turning the wheel to port..she barley turns then is stopped cold.
Have full motion to starboard.

A few weeks ago, I was working on the manifold and riser, a wrench slipped off and flew back there..I didn't find it in my bilge nor at the back of the motor anywhere. I assumed it found its way under the deck..UNTIL I launched yesterday and could only make right turns....

I searched again this am, thinking it had gotten way back where the steering lever connects to the OD at the transom...stuck my fingers in there and all I got was a handfull of grease...Used a coat hanger to fish for it, zippo on that too..

So is there anyplace else this **###&&&@@@@ thing could have gone???
There doesn't seem to be a way for it to have gone any further in the sterring rod area, correct?

Any help is as always appreciated..Have 2 days left of vacation!

That could very well be your prob, keep looking! Mirror and magnets are helpful

It may help if I disconnect the steering rod from the cables and physically move the outdrive and see if it's free, if it is then I guess my cable is bad huh?
Does this make sense?
If it still doesn't have full range of motion, then that bugger is in there somewhere?!?

Disconnected the steering arm and the OD has full range of movement..

Seems I need to adjust the cable at the helm...
The helm has two cables..on top there is a worm type threaded cable that is maybe 11-12 inches (?) when wheel is turned fully to port.
There is some type of barrel lock on it to keep it from going all the way into the housing.

The bottom cable is connected to the steering arms...

Where do I begin? Is it with the top cable and is that barrel do hickey removeable, adjustable?

Re: Steering issues, lost wrench blocking rod?

OK..I see what the problem is..When I had my flying boat incident, the rod that comes out of the tube that pushes/pulls the steering rod is slightly bent, not allowing it to retract fully into the tube and binds before it can move the OD into a portside turn...

Is this rod attched to a new cable, or is it a seperate piece? May try to pursuade it with a rubber mallet...

Just to close this out..
The rod got put into a vise and was beat back straight enough to slide fully back into the tube..she steers well!
