Steering issue

When I punch my throttle to get on plane, my steering veers off to the left and is hard to get back straight. I have to then trim up to loosen it a little but it's not smooth but manageable. Also, I get a screeching sound coming from my inboard when turning or going WOT. Any ideas? 99 Chaparral signature 240 5.7 volvo penta inboard. Is it power steering pump issue or steering cable?

welcome aboard. sounds like you have two issues. the squealing and the steering pulling to the left.

check your alternator bearings and power steering pump as well as the belt.

regarding the pulling to the left. does the boat list a bit? if it does, could be weight issue, or wet foam issue
