I parked the boat about 5 weeks ago. Went back to use it and could not turn steering at all. It has 350 chevy stern drive with power steering. Should i check cable----power steering pump ----or hydraulic unit? New boater all advice helpful.

Re: steering froze

check the cable first. disconnect it from the drive, see if the wheel will turn. if not disconnect it from the helm. if the wheel turns, cables bad. if not, helms bad. if the wheel turns easily after disconnecting cable from drive, manually turn the drive. that should get you started.

Re: steering froze

Check the powersteering Fluid 1st..!! it's the easiest.. Then proceed to the rest of the system, as per azboatman.... I'd suspect the cable....
