steering for a 25

hi i have a old evin 25 bout 78 or so, and i am trying to hook up a steering system an I bought all the stuff but the instructions dont tell me how to hook the steering cable to the motor i bought a uniflex steering system and I already have the throddle cables. the steering cabled cant just bolt on to engine theres no support for it and when I turn the wheel the cable move instead of the engine

Ok, I know what you need and I will try to describe it to you. I had one on a pontoon I had. It is a odd looking device that bolts to your boat transom some way and then the steering arm, as in arm cable goes through, is in this. It is clamped into this thing and it is made to swivel so it will give as your motor turns. You might want to check at a boat dealer for one of these. It was on a '84 model toon with a 65hp merc. It worked great. Hope this helps.
