I've been looking at http://www.boatstogo.com/central-console-inflatable-boat.asp as a steering system for my inflatable with my 25HP outboard but am unsure if my motor can support a steering wheel. I've been looking for a steering arm specific to this model of motor but haven't found anything, but it seems like it should be.

Does anyone know if this is possible on my motor or if you have a trusted source that I might find the parts I need.

If I can't find it then I can just use the tiller arm but I would much prefer a wheel.

That's an interesting console, I haven't seen anything like that before. I have no idea what accommodations your boat provides for installation, but assuming it is compatible, you need a transom support tube with clamp to hold the outer cable, and a motor connection kit to connect it the the front carrying handle. That stuff is pretty standard and available here at iboats.

FYI, your motor does not have a hollow tilt tube for the cable to pass through, as newer ones do. That is why you need a support tube mounted to the transom.

EDIT: Your motor was designed for cable/pulley steering. It will work with push-pull cables like what you are considering, but with compromise. Such as limited steering arc and possible tilting interference. Just so you know.

Might look around for a tube that fits/clamps under the motor's mounting clamps.

[Edit. current mfg. is T&R.]

F_R thank you for that information! I searched the iBoats site for all sorts of variations of a transom support tube but couldn't find anything. A general internet search revealed this: https://www.starmarinedepot.com/seas...-aluminum.html, is there an iBoats part that you know of? Considering how helpful this site has always been for me I prefer to buy from iBoats rather than anyone else.

oldboat1, thank you also! I couldn't find T&R on the site. Are you thinking of this: https://tinyurl.com/y9f5g6lr?

Providing I can find this [seemingly very expensive] tube, I would need the rotary steering cable like this: https://www.starmarinedepot.com/seas...-aluminum.html correct? How do I determine the length I need? I'm assuming its the length of the tube the wheel is on, down the side of the boat, across the transom to the motor but want to be sure since it's pricey.

Do you have a recommendation for a throttle control that I should be looking at for this model of motor?

Most motors from about 1975 on use that tilt tube for the single push pull cable.----Should be lots of affordable used ones around.------Mount it under the clamps as you see fit.

oldboat1 Thank you! That makes so much more sense now when you said to get something that fits under the mounting clamps. I thought you meant it bolted below the clamps, but this is perfect and also answered the question of if I even wanted to do this project since I would end up having to constantly bolt the connections together every time I deflated my boat and took my engine off. It also means I don't have to figure out how to get the tilt tube installed, which I've come to understand is going to require a lot of fabrication.

The kit they have, the FWK-3475 looks like it's meant for a link arm that connects to the bottom of the handle rather than the front, my link connection is on the front. Are you aware of adapters that can fix that?
