Steering confusion.

I have a Bravo 3 drive. If I'm going straight down the river there is about 2 inches of play in the steering wheel. If I turn right or left and wait a second before I go the opposite direction there is no slop but if I go back and forth immediately there is slop. I put a new helm and steering cable in because it was very stiff.

Sounds normal, there is always a bit of play. Helm gear to cable, steering pin, only way to have zero play is with full hydraulic steering
