Steering cable

I have a 1967 Glasspar lake boat. I bought it with a way oversized engine and recently aquired a more fitting engine. During the swap I discovered the steering cable was cracked and managed to break it while making a closer inspection, The boat has what I imagine is the origonal steering system with a rack type steering head. The cable is broken where it screwed into the swivel sleeve. As luck would have it I need the sleeve as well as a cable, my question . Should I replace the entire steering assy as its all older than the hills or should a cable be adequate. And of course will the swivel guide come with a cable or is that a seperate item. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Re: Steering cable

replace with a rotary system, will fit the same cutout, and much more user friendly.
