I am considering changing from an old steering cable system to either a rack or rotary system. So far I found out that a rack is a bit cheaper but not enough to be a mayor factor.
Could any of you gurus tell me the pros and cons of the two systems?
I intend to use one of them on a 17 foot 1964 Duracraft Orion partial V hull with a 1986 50 horse Evinrude.
thank you,Rolmops.

Re: steering cable

Ayuh,........

It's not so much the Pros or Cons,.....

It's All about the Space Available under the Dash..........

Racks are Too Wide for many app.s,.....

Re: steering cable

i only use the rotary system, it is user friendly, much easier to install. on my 58 duracraft, i still have the pulley cable. trim tab adjusted so i can turn wheel loose. would love to see pixs of yours. see mine and post yours here: http://forums.iboats.com/Duracraft
