steering cable setup

When I bought my 68 13' sport in '72 and ever since it has had a spring unit on both sides of the steering cable. I know that the original only had a single. It has always worked well. I am finally putting her back together after an overall refurb and am wondering should I reinstall the second spring. Comments? Advice?

Put her back the way she was, 68. We don't know why it was done that way, but there must be a reason.

I would personally convert to Teleflex, but that's your dedcision.

Well JB, she is original right down to the rubrails and decals still sporting the '67 40 hp Rude she was purchased with. Teleflex? Nah!

I know your boat, 68. Please keep her as original as possible. A classic is a classic is a classic.
I have an '89 13' SuperSport. She's sitting in the water about 45' away as I write this. Soon as the wife gets home we'll be on the lake. Typical New England summer humidity all this week. Nothing like a little cruise to cool off.
Huh! As I'm typing, wind picks up, static on the AM radio, dog getting antsy. Cruise postponed until after impending thunderstorm.
