I need to replace the steering cable in my 1972 Chrysler Courrier. When I took it apart over Memorial day weekend, I learned it's a rack & pinion steering system. After some searching through the internet, it looks like I can get one of two possible replacement cables from Teleflex:

1. QC II
2. The Rack

Can anyone out there confirm for me which cable I need to go with? The system in the boat isn't explictly labeled Teleflex, but I assume Teleflex cables will be compatible with my system.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Steering Cable Replacement

That age and rack and pinion usually mean Mercury Ride Guide. Don't know about the helm, but new cables were available a few years ago. The helm may be possibly had used from an old time Merc dealer (that's where I found one about ten years ago.

Other than that, you in for both new.
