Steering cable lubrication?

What gives? My factory manual clearly shows a xerk fitting on the steering cable a few inches from it's terminating fitting at the back of the transom. This is for a '76 Merc 888 setup.

I can follow the cable sheath right up to the metal end of the cable and can find no such fitting. I think everything is original.

Are there variations? Am I missing something?

That zirc is ONLY on the Mercruiser cables. If you have a cable from a different manufacturer it probably doesn't have one.

Probably a Teliflex or a Morse...........

Either Way,.... The Cable is a Non-Servicable Part.......

Pretty much for the same reasons that you Can't service Most Hyd. Lines nowadays,.......
Even thing is Crimped, instead of Screwed..........
