Folks
I have been using marine grease to lubricate the steering cable on my boat, but this year have noticed that the residual grease that is on the shaft when the motor is turned is rust colored. The cable system is only a few years old and operates fine. Is this ok?
I was thinking of spraying down the cable with some good PTFE lube in a can vs/ using grease so I don't get all the crud build up going in and out of the tube when the grease gets dirty
I know the best route is to get a zerk fitting nut on the end, but am concerned that the rusty colored grease is a bad sign
