Re: stator

A stator is a very simple AC current generater.
It is located under the flywheel. The flywheel has magnets attached to it. The stator has wire coils. When the flywheel spins, the magnets pass by the coils, creating an AC electrical current.

On your motor, the ac current is passed to the rectifier via the 2 yellow wires. The rectifier converts the ac to dc, which is used to charge your battery and power your accessories.

They are used on motor cycles, atv's, outboards, and anything else that does not have a conventional alternator.

Here is a picture of a basic stator.
Yours will be encased in plastic, either black (original), or red (the newer and better version).
