I have a 1985 mer. 3 cyl outboard with solid state igniton. My stator has abad wire at its base not repairable.I have a stator for an older 4 cyl. solid state mariner eng.The stator looks the same an mounts fine, but its wired a little differnt. It has 2 yel.wires to 12v rect ok, also 1 red an 1 blue to the solid state ign block ok,also 1 red / wht an 1 blue / wht. I think these last 2 wires are for a 2an ign. block an I can cap them.ALSO the old stator had a black wire to gd. I think the mariner stator will work fine what do you think? FRED

Re: Stator wiring

Sorry it won't work. The 3 cylinder stator is wired differently inside the stator than the 4 cyl. You can't just leave the r/w and b/w wires disconnected.

Todd

Re: Stator wiring

You will have to get a new or used 3 cyl stator. It's the only opition. Sorry

Todd
