Stator replacement tips?

Ok, as posted in earlier threads, the motor isn't charging the battery. Already replaced the rectifier, it was bad anyway. Now, Im going to tackle the stator! I have already purchased the new CDI stator (part # 173-2926K1). The instructions in the kit mention a heat gun to warm up the old brown epoxy. Other than that it "seems" fairly straight forward. I am going to make a nylon strap wrench to hold the flywheel. Anybody have any helpful tips or tricks? Or know the torque when putting the flywheel back on?

Well, I got it done, and I think it works!! It is charging, not much but its charging. Its only a 5 amp charge, so I kinda expected it to be slow. Tach works, and torqued to 103 ft lbs.

Put a voltmeter across the battery and run it at wot and see what it says.

Just got back from a trip across the lake. 13.3 volts at WOT, 4800 rpm and 17 mph. I would say that's working. Does this make me a boat mechanic now???

I've been thinking about that too. Where's the best place to get one? And I'm FAR from being a boat mechanic. This is my first boat. But I have learneda lot from this site. When it first started messing up, everybody said take it to the shop. But, I came on here, read a lot, remembered some, and fixed it myself. Thanks for everything.
