I have a 1975 Mercury 650 3 cylinder and was wandering if the stator was bad (being that mercury does not make replacement stators for this motor), can the stator itself be fixed/repaired/rebuilt??? I'm not saying it is bad just incase it is what are my options.

tankuvedimuch

Re: Stator Repair?

HMMM, I don't think that really answered my question which is basically can the stator for this motor be REBUILT? Cause if not I might be up a creek. Also the two references given; the first "old merc 150 ?" did not cover rebuilding and second the rapar.com link did not work.

don'tbehaten'

Re: Stator Repair?

The only thing that usually fails on those stators are the lead wires. Thusly the other thread.

Failing that - Rapair can sell you a stator or rewind yours.

-W

Re: Stator Repair?

If you're interested, I probably have a good 3-cyl stator.

Do you have the flywheel off yet as it would help to check your stator for a part #, to ensure a perfect match. Otherwise post the Ser # of the motor and I can look it up.

I don't see a way to do P.M.'s on this forum so if you wish you could give me a holler at eddymac246 <at> netscape.n*t (remove anti-spam middle and change asteric), and we can discuss at length.

Cheers...........ed
