I have a 1975 Evinrude 135 HP. I took the flywheel off and saw some oozing from the stator. My question is which of the two stators do I need to replace it with the 6 amp or the 12 amp? Also, do I need to replace the rectifier as well?

135 6 Amp 1973-1976 4 581046, 581225 (4 cyl) 173-1225
135 12 Amp 1973-1976 4 581303, 581860, 582099 173-2099

Thanks in advance.

Re: Stator Question

If you have power tilt trim or run a lot of accessories, use the 12 amp stator. Otherwise, the smaller amperage stator will do.

Which one has been on the engine since you've owned it?.... Usually a part number on it.
