Better yet, tell us what engine you need to replace the stator on. Just a part number makes it tough.

ok here is the story a marine mechanic said he put a stator on my 1988 2.0 omc seadrive according to dealer he bought from was stator part number 173-4288 CDI but but from my past fourms as you can see ive had problems i found a stator on my motor apearing to be used part number R584228 with an install date of 6-1-03 writen in ink on the tag around the two yellow wires all the work he supposely done wan in feb.04 im concerened i was charged for a used stator at new cost thanks be safe a.weeks

What I can find is that the original part number for the stator is 583561 which was superceded by 584288.<br /><br />The number 173-4288 sounds like a Reapair number.
