Hey all
Just wanted to hear some input on a slight cold start sneeze I’ve been trying to chase down. It’ll only do it at cold start; seems to clear up after I throw it into high idle

one or both carbs are lean.
adjust richer.
If that doesn't fix it, disassemble and clean them.

Once it gets running, try the starter fluid test.
Spray starting fluid around the intake side.
If it makes any difference in the way it runs, then it's sucking air and that might be causing the sneeze?

Thanks Jerry but it seems it clears up after warm up so not sure but I’ll play around with the starter next chance I get and post back

The repair manual says to start the idle screw adjustment at 1 1/8 turns out from seat. Then go lean 1/8th turn at a time until it starts to miss. A real key is to let it run for 10-15 seconds between each adjustment to let the engine settle into the new adjustment. Then you do the same thing in the rich direction. Then you pick the mid point. I have been 1/8 turn to lean and it would sneeze. Lean is bad so I run my 135hp a little on the rich side to be safe. Runs smoother and doesn't sneeze. If this doesn't fix it you have a deeper problem.

While chasing a high rpm problem on mine, did the starting fluid test and found an air leak problem with the port cover gaskets. Replaced them today and noticed that my cold start cough or sneeze is gone. It has been doing that for a long time....seems to be gone now. Still need to check it at high rpm but seem to have fixed the cough by accident. lol
