Startup idle issues

I have a 94 3.0 mercruiser sat for a long time before I bought it new carb new fuel pump spark plug wires were one off on distributor order was right tho Jst 180 out got it running but to start haft to be throttled up almost all the way and seems to start on only two cylinders blowing fuel out exhaust then other two pick up as it warms abt a min or so and then will idle

Running on 2 cyl then later run on 4, this would be in the distributor and wires most likely. Get a spark gap tester and install one at a time on each plug to see what it looks like

I'm guessing you bent a couple of valves .
