Did you ever get this resolved?? I?m facing nearly identical issues with my 9.8 HP 2-stroke here in Honduras where I have little access to mechanics or parts. Any information on what worked for you would be greatly appreciated.

You posted in an old Tohatsu thread, so this is a Tohatsu?

What's the fuel like? Does it keep running if the bulb is squeezed?

Its spark or fuel, if you have spark its fuel. Are the carb (s) and jets clean ? for sure,no really take carb bowls off and clean them and the jets too.

My gut says it fuel, clean the whole fuel system, filters, watch youtube for this, 50-1 two stroke oil in new gas, and do all outboard maintance on your motor.Youtube.

I never resolved it fully, the problem was intermittent. But, I am fairly sure now that the problem was a stuck float switch in the carb; it would get stuck in the open position, and the engine would flood and be really hard to restart. Then when the float switch jostled loose, it would run fine for the rest of the day.
