Re: starting problems

Replace the key switch , they had a problem with them , Standard 6 prong, push to choke switch available at any boating store . If this does not fix it post up but I really think it is it as long as your definition of starting is engine running. See the top post here for some important info about starting these boats "Sport Jet Basics"

Re: starting problems

Could be the boat harness , do you have a boat manual for your boat ? If not you will need clymer manual # w815 to see the proper tests for the switch and harness .

Re: starting problems

I'm willing to bet you have some corrosion on the wiring harness connector on the motor. Look behind the engine and find a black barrel connector, sometimes snapped into a sort of hook snap wire on the back side. If you unhook from the back then unplug this, look at the pins and sockets and see if they look clean. If so, move on.. if not, clean up the contacts, then do yourself a favor and put some dielectric grease in there and plug it all back together...

If that doesn't do it, best to get the manual, then you can ring out the wires to figure out which is not connecting up....
