starting problems

2004 40hp Tohatsu electric start(or not as the case may be) my fishfinder(lowrance x-125)says the battery voltage is 12.4volts but when i turn the key theres nothing happening the choke clicks but nothing on the next turn then i have to pull start it.any suggestions would be helpfull thanks for reading this post.......<br /> :confused:

Either the starter is not getting current or the starter is the problem. You have to troubleshoot the system.

If your at 12.4 volts its pretty low a good battery will hold 12.6 to 12.8<br /><br /> the .2 to .4 does not sound like much but if thats all it holds after a charge its a good sign of a bad battery<br /><br />You also need to cover the basic things like good connections ect<br /><br /><br />tommays

thanks for the replys.i was out at the weekend ,don't think it's the batterythink its the starter,i'll just stick with the pull start till i can get some on site help..thanks..
